Mohcine HAMOUMI

Mohcine Hamoumi received his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Bruxelles (ULB), where he was awarded the Excellence Prize. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), within the OPERA-WCG research group, under the supervision of Prof. François Horlin. His research focuses on radar-based multi-target tracking, with a particular interest in pedestrian tracking using FMCW radar and Random Finite Set-based filtering techniques.

The research focuses on the development of advanced radar-based methods for tracking multiple pedestrians in complex environments. In particular, it investigates Random Finite Set-based approaches, including PHD and CPHD filters, for multi-target tracking using FMCW radar measurements. The work addresses nonlinear radar measurement models involving range, Doppler velocity, and angle of arrival, and explores techniques such as Unscented Kalman filtering, Gaussian-mixture representations and particle filtering. The research also includes the evaluation of these methods using both simulations and real-world radar measurements, with the objective of improving tracking accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency. Future work will investigate the integration of artificial intelligence and edge AI techniques for radar-based pedestrian detection and tracking.
